To Apply: Please email a resume, cover letter and writing samples to Emma Jenkins (firstname.lastname@example.org) with "freelance writer" in the subject line. For specific story ideas, please fill out and email the pitch form.
This is a paid position with possibility of ongoing work. Applicants can work remotely and do not need to be based in Cincinnati.
RISE offers a three month media internship focused on digital storytelling, social media and public relations. Interns are hands-on and involve a variety of responsibilities as well as the opportunity to work closely with the editorial staff on projects, which may include (but are not limited to) creating digital media pieces, research, social media, event listings and press releases.
Interns will take part in training sessions and mentorship. Training is run by the Editor-in-Chief and provides an overview of how RISE works, from pitching to editing to fact-checking to art/design. Interns are also paired with someone who is in recovery to gain firsthand knowledge of the population we serve.
Although a journalism/communications/PR degree (or working toward a degree) is preferred, it's not required.
To Apply: Please email a resume, cover letter and three to five published clips to Emma Jenkins (email@example.com) with "media internship" in the subject line. This is an unpaid position with opportunity for college credit.
