A Better Life

Tracy Brumfield

Author, Founder of RISE

When I set out to create RISE, I wanted to cover all of the topics that would be important to someone trying to get their life back on track, and I know that taking care of my health is one of the most important changes I’ve made the last couple of years.

Self care begins with self awareness: knowing where you are physically, mentally, and emotionally. Only then can you understand how to get where you want to go in life.

We want to share with you the places in our community that can make a difference in your life, no matter how much you’re able to pay. Even if you’re not ready, at least you’ll know where to go if and when you need help.

There are people downtown who patrol Fountain Square and the surrounding area, referred to as Cincinnati “ambassadors.” These ambassadors offer free help with resources like maps, guides, and directions. They connect people with local social services and shelters. Ambassadors wear bright orange shirts and blue jackets and provide services from 6 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sunday - Wednesday, and 6 a.m. - midnight, Thursday - Saturday.

We hope this issue of RISE inspires you and provides you with the information you need to give your mind, body, and spirit the love and attention it deserves. My greatest hope is that our newspaper inspires you to rise up, love yourself, and believe you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
