Photo Story: Eddie Sweet

“My motto nowadays is simple. Shoot photos, not heroin.”

Eddie Sweet is a 30-year old photographer in Ludlow, Kentucky. He is also in recovery from heroin addiction. Three years ago, when Sweet was beginning the recovery process, he considered himself antisocial. He never wanted to interact with other people, but he had several hours each day he needed to fill — time he previously spent getting high.

Photography became Sweet’s outlet in which he could maintain his alone time and produce creative work. He soon developed a network of people who don’t use drugs which became a positive influence in his life.

Now, Sweet’s favorite photo destinations are Over-The-Rhine and Covington, Kentucky. He often looks for puddle reflections when shooting street photography, and he enjoys shooting abandoned buildings, too.

Sweet also does portrait photography. If you’re interested in scheduling a shoot, you can reach out through Instagram: @aestheticvisions.
